Can’t sleep right now so I guess I’ll blog a bit. For the followers who know me…all of you, haha, you all know I love to fish. I’ve been fishing my whole life and will fish the rest of it. No doubt about that. But what I have just gotten myself into is fly fishing. Fly fishing is an art of it’s own. Last season I went on my first salmon fishing trips, which were amazing. I fished the Lake Michigan salmon in southern Wisconsin and it was great. Sadly I don’t have any pictures of me with my first ever salmon to add to my blog. This introduction into salmon fishing bumped me into my next step. Trout fishing, particularly the elusive steelhead, which I have gotten hooked but never landed. Now it seems I’m hooked on the challenge (pun intended). Fishing streams and rivers was a first for me last year and this year I hope to become much better at it seeing as my fly rod caught me…nothing. Well, actually I had a fingerling blue gill on but that was just practicing how to cast my rod.
I am hoping this season will be different and with the warm winter we had I was able to hit up Indiana and Chicago for some browns and steelhead but unfortunately didn’t have a taker on any. In a couple weeks the spring run of steelhead should be moving and I will be there to get them! I should really be sleeping right now but just thinking of fishing has got me all antsy. So this 2012 year, my blog will be updated with stories of all my fishing trips local and abroad (I might get a chance to fish Vancouver and California, if I’m lucky).
I fish because I love how beautiful nature is and how memories are made at each trip I go on.
Plans for this year:
Blog my fishing trips
Post pictures
Learn how to tie flies
Learn how to fly fish!
Get better waders, camera, etc to make this an ultimate fishing blog
Sincerely,
Andrew
